BUG Fix the Earth textures in Universe Sandbox 2 « on: December 08, 2017, 11:47:26 AM » When adding the default Earth into a new simulation from the Planets category, the continents have a strange appearance that some of the Earths oceans have been drained away. One of the many important astrophysical processes that Universe Sandbox simulates is the changing temperature of an object as it is warmed by nearby stars and other sources of heat. I tried to go in and grab a screen cap, but the simulation in question doesn't take me through the whole thing anymore. Universe Sandbox 2 is my favourite simulator. The Total Solar Eclipse on Augsimulation runs at a fairly quick simulation speed, so you may want to turn down the simulation speed to better see the shadow pass over Earth. UPDATE (March 2020): We completely removed the 2 from our application name as of Update 25. ![]() I tried opening this simulation in both VR and the desktop version and was able to see the Moon's shadow pass quickly over the Earth during the eclipse. I have tried to use the earth as a moon for Jupiter at 288500 km orbit radius, and I put Jupiter between 1 AU all the way up to 10 AU from the sun. Outside of the habitable zone (heating the moons using tidal flexing) is a lot harder to do in the sandbox. Originally posted by bshapiroalbert:I'm sorry you're having this issue in Universe Sandbox.
